The Wyvern Theatre is situated in the heart of Swindon in Theatre Square, at the end of the High Street.

Wyvern Multi-Storey and Islington Street
Swindon Borough Council have now re-opened the Islington Street open air car park in front of the theatre, following the recent demolition of the Wyvern Multi-Storey.
Recommended Car Parks
The Wyvern has several other car parks within easy walking distance including the Whalebridge multi-storey, which is further down Islington Street and Regent Circus car park.
Whalebridge Car Park
If you require easy access to the theatre, we recommend using the Whalebridge car park and entering through the side pod if you are sitting in the stalls. If you are sitting in the circle or boxes or coming to the restaurant, we recommend you use Regent Circus car park and enter through the main doors in Theatre Square.

Evening rates after 6pm are £1.00 for up to two hours and £2.00 for over two hours at Whalebridge.
Regent Circus has a total of 450 spaces, split across two well-lit and secure car parks, just steps away from the Wyvern Theatre.
There is a dedicated leisure car park facility on the same level as the restaurant and cinema arcade; follow signs to the Cinema Car Park from the main roads. This car park has two tariffs – one for 08:00-18:00 and one for post 18:00.

Morrisons Car Park
Morrisons customers have a dedicated car park on the ground floor (entrance opposite Rudi’s Bar) and off Byron Street. Shoppers should note that a three hour limit applies to this car park. If customers spend £5 or more within Morrisons, the supermarket will refund up to 2 hours of their parking.
Parking charges after 6pm are £1 for up to 1 hour and £3.00 for up to three hours.
Blue Badge Parking
Please note - parking for patrons with blue badges will remain available adjacent to the Wyvern in Regent Close car park. Access is via the road through the former Islington Street car park.
Wood Street Car Park is a short walk from the Arts Centre. More information on parking in Swindon can be found at www.swindon.gov.uk
Swindon train station is just a 10 minute stroll through the town centre to the Theatre which is situated at the top of town.
Swindon Bus Station is a short walk through the town centre to the Theatre which is situated at the top of town.
The nearest bus stop to the Wyvern is on Princes Street.
The closest bus stop is on Devizes Road and is served by bus routes 11, 22 and 24.
The Wyvern Theatre is situated in the town centre 10 minutes from the M4 (junctions 15 or 16) and the A419 and A420.
Follow the signs to the town centre and when approaching the Magic Roundabout you will pick up the signs to the Wyvern Theatre.
To reach the Theatre and car parks using SatNav, type in either Islington Street or Regent Close.

Tickets are available for purchase through our Ticket Office on 01793 524481. Tickets can be purchased by phone Monday-Saturday 10am-6pm.
The Ticket Office is open from Monday-Saturday 10am-6pm, or until curtain up on performance days. Tickets can be purchased and collected from the ticket desk however, after 6pm on show days, there may be limited access to purchase for performances other than that evening's performance.
Swindon Arts Centre is open an hour before the performance starts.
We accept most major credit and debit cards, cash, and cheques, which should be made payable to ‘Wyvern Theatre Ltd’.
Where offered, concession ticket prices apply to those over 60 or under 16, unwaged, full-time students or people with a disability. We offer one free carer ticket per disabled ticket booked (one discount per disabled person). Proof of eligibility may be required.
Wyvern Theatre & Arts Centre Gift Vouchers are available in any amount from £5.00 and supplied in a Gift Voucher wallet, they are valid for a whole year from the date of purchase, giving the recipient plenty of time to select a show or concert of choice.

A booking fee is an additional payment on top of the ticket price that is retained entirely by the Wyvern Theatre and Arts Centre to invest in the venue, whereas the majority of the ticket price goes to the producer of the show.

The Wyvern's auditorium has 635 seats, all designed to be within 70 ft from the stage. A full seating plan can be found here.

A number of seats for disabled patrons are reserved for every performance at the Wyvern Theatre and the Arts Centre, in easily accessible areas of the auditorium with space for a wheelchair and a carer. To book for a disabled patron, please contact the Ticket Office on 01793 524481.
For adults who require assistance to attend the theatre, we offer one complimentary carer ticket with your booking when one of the following is presented to a member of the Ticket Office staff:

The Main Foyer doors open at 10am Monday – Saturday, and an hour and a half before the performance start time on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Our disabled access side entrance is open approximately one hour before the performance start time. The Auditorium doors are usually open half an hour before the performance start time. Auditorium access can vary due to rehearsals and warm-ups on stage.
The Arts Centre will only be open on performance days, and one hour before a performance starts.
Our Cafe and Bar do take credit and debit cards, however purchases of refreshments or programmes from mobile units or from one of our ushers must be made with cash.
The nearest cash point to the Wyvern Theatre is at the Co-Operative bank just around the corner from Theatre Square, opposite the Town Hall.
Yes – if your baby is 12 months or under there is no charge (unless stated otherwise) and they can sit on your lap. We have areas that you can safely store your pram or buggy. The exception to this rule is any show that has a strict age guideline.
Any child over 12 months (unless stated otherwise) must have their own ticket, whether they use the seat or sit on your lap.
If you are part of a large group booking you can place orders in advance with the Hospitality team who will have everything ready for you at the interval. If you are not part of a group you can order any interval refreshments on arrival at the Theatre from the Cafe or lower foyer Bar.
In the majority of cases, yes. Some shows do not allow latecomers to enter the auditorium once the show has started until a suitable break in the performance. Sometimes we may have to hold people in the foyer for a short period of time before seating them at a particular moment that will ensure minimum disturbance to both cast and audience.

For the majority of performances, no. The appearance of artistes along with the designs for sets and costumes etc are all copyrighted, therefore it is often against the law to photograph any of it. It can also be both dangerous for the artistes and distracting for other members of the audience, therefore we ask you not to take photographs or use any sort of recording equipment within the Auditorium.
If it is appropriate for the type of show then yes, of course. We do ask all of our patrons to be considerate of other audience members during the performance.
It is during some shows. There is always a sign displayed in the foyer to tell you if strobe, flashing lights or any other effects are used during a show. If we know in advance, we will put a warning on the show's page on this website. If you would like more information about a particular show please telephone the Ticket Office on 01793 524481 and we will do our very best to help you.
This will depend on the type of show and is down to each individual company. We cannot guarantee that the company and cast will oblige (with the exception of our Pantomime), but we can certainly pass on your requests if you take them to our Ticket Office staff on the day of the show.
As a touring venue, the Wyvern does not usually hold open auditions for shows; productions are cast for tours and generally advertised in The Stage. On the rare occasion we are asked to hold open auditions (usually for child parts) we publicise them in the local press and on our website.
The best suggestion we can offer is to go to stage door after the show and see the performers as they are leaving. It is up to the individual performer as to whether they wish to stop and chat to fans, pose for photos or sign autographs. Occasionally artists will arrange a signing in the Theatre foyer after the show. This will usually be announced on the day.

The Cafe and bars are usually open an hour and a half before the performance start time. Food from our Wyvern Kitchen Menu
can be ordered from any outlet, as well as hot and cold drinks, sweets, ice creams and other refreshments.
There is no strict dress code at the Wyvern. We do have a cloak room, situated in the lower foyer. The charge is 50p per item and you can also hire children's booster seats, which are free of charge. Those who are hard of hearing can also hire the Sennheiser equipment from the cloakroom.
All tickets are non refundable except in the instance of a show cancellation or postponement. We are able to exchange tickets for a different performance of the same show subject to availability, with an administration cost of £2 per booking. If a show has sold out and you are unable to use your tickets, we may be able to take them in for re-sale. Please call the Ticket Office on 01793 524481 for more information.
We have baby changing facilities in our disabled access toilet on the right hand side of the lower foyer.
The Wyvern Theatre is fully accessible with ramped access from street level at our side entrance to the Stalls and lower foyer area or from Theatre Square level to the Circle, Boxes and the Ticket Office. A number of seats for disabled patrons are reserved for every performance in easily accessible areas of the auditorium with space for a wheelchair and a carer. We do offer discounts for groups of 8 or more on the majority of our shows, although these can’t be accessed when booking online. If you have asked to be sent your tickets in the post, they will be sent by Royal Mail 2nd Class Post. Tickets should arrive in 7-10 days after purchase. Tickets are not always posted on the day of purchase. If you are concerned about the whereabouts of your tickets, then please contact the Ticket Office on 01793 524481 who will be happy to help.
If you have not received your tickets within a reasonable time after booking, please contact our Ticket Office on 01793 524481 to let them know. If tickets have been lost in the post, then the tickets will be re-issued to collect from the Ticket Office on the night of your performance.
You can collect your tickets in a number of ways. You can collect your tickets prior to the performance at the Wyvern Ticket Office which is open Monday-Saturday 10am-6pm. You can also collect your tickets on the evening of the performance where tickets will be available for collection up to the start of the performance.
