Discussions led by poet Carrie Etter with two prominent poetry editors, Amy Wack and Mary Jean Chan. Come and join a discussion about what it takes to get published.

Carrie Etter

Carrie Etter is a Reader in Creative Writing at Bath Spa University. Her most recent collection, Imagined Sons (Seren, 2014), was shortlisted for the Ted Hughes Award in New Work in Poetry by The Poetry Society.

Amy Wack

Amy Wack was born in Florida, grew up in Calfornia and has a BA in English Literature from San Diego State University and an MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia University in New York City. She has lived in Cardiff since 1988 and has worked for Seren Press/Poetry Wales since 1990 where she edits their multi-prizewinning poetry list. She has published her own poems in various journals, most recently a 12-part poem inspired by feral cats in Spain in Long Poem Magazine.

Mary Jean Chan

A poet from Hong Kong, Mary Jean Chan is shortlisted for the 2017 Forward Prize for Best Single Poem, and is a Co-Editor at Oxford Poetry. Her work has been published in The Poetry Review, Ambit, The Rialto, The London Magazine, Callaloo Journal, and is forthcoming from the 2018 Forward Book of Poetry, PN Review, Wasafiri and Magma. She is currently a PhD candidate in Creative Writing and Research Associate in Poetics at Royal Holloway, University of London. Mary Jean’s article on Claudia Rankine’s Citizen was recently published by The Journal of American Studies (2017).
