Swindon Gilbert & Sullivan Society

Pirates of Penzance

Swindon Arts Centre

Tue 17 - Sat 21 April

Swindon Gilbert & Sullivan Society

Swindon’s Gilbert & Sullivan Society’s production of hugely popular The Pirates of Penzance is a tale of idiotic policemen, posh pirates and a Major General with a ridiculous number of daughters.

Frederick, mistakenly apprenticed to a band of pirates, discovers a beautiful maiden, Mabel  - one of several daughters of Major General Stanley. Frederick commits himself to her on his 21st birthday, but finds that having been born on 29th February he is still strictly only 5 years old! Being a slave of duty he determines to see out his responsibilities, but is there a way he could marry Mabel and unravel this typically Gilbertian plot and arrive at a happy ending?

Full of great tunes, a plot that twists and turns, this is a great way to celebrate the Society’s 50th Anniversary.
