Groovy Pig Music Festival
Swindon Fringe Festival at The Vic, Old Town
The Vic, Old Town
Sun 8 April
This event takes place at The Vic, Old TownAfter an incredible inauguration the Groovy Pig is back for a 2nd year at The Vic.
7 hours, 9 acts… This promises to be another indiscriminate bonanza of musical variety and general awesomeness! And the bands are…
Gilmore n Jaz: Gilmore n Jaz are experienced musicians creating an un-obtrusive club cafe atmosphere for bars and restaurants. Be it reception drinks and canapes or Sunday lunches Gilmore n Jaz provide that authentic sound for an enhancing and delightful ambiance. Gilmore n Jaz make easy listening for all to travel the world within their music to whisk you away to romantic European cities, taverna’s, tapas and bistro bars and then to relax on sunny, tropical, beaches to enjoy the sunshine, sip cocktails in the spirit of paradise island and let the imagination run wild and that island is not so far away.
Sweet Nightingale: Sweet Nightingale are an acoustic duo - one guitar, two voices and beautiful harmonies that touch the soul. We have been playing across Swindon and Wiltshire for several years to great acclaim.
Flame&Co - In Flames: Flame&Co explore both flamenco’s deepest roots and its new intrepid ofshoots in a spirit of personal interpretation and duende. Flamenco being a kindred spirit of the blues, soul is the one vital ingredient and each performance is never quite the same. Expect guitarist Haydn Bonadie’s mastery (gained in Algeciras) and be prepared for a surprise blues or two if the winds lean that way.
The Bellflowers: Claire Amor and Jessie Thompson are a Wiltshire-based folk duo. Armed with Jessie’s accordion, Claire’s percussion and a blend of heavenly harmonies, they’ll soon have your foot tapping along to their range of covers, traditional folk songs and original music.
Damon T + Luke Philbrick: New York born singer/songwriter heavily influcened by Americana and traditional roots music. Raw foot-stomping country blues sound & gritty slide guitar accompanied by soulful vocals.
Da Fuchaman and The Fire Blaze Band: We are one of the most prominent and upcoming reggae band in UK.
Terra-45: 3 piece pop punk goth drum bashing band.
SexJazz: A psychedelic smorgasbord of lo-fi punk-cabaret, polyrhythmic porn-dub and insect-infested crust-hop. Swindon’s finest purveyors of surrealistic anarchy (or is it anarchistic surrealism?) singing sensible songs for a stupid world.
Spunking Octochoke: What is everybody’s favourite mollusc/plant/discharge-related combo, Spunking Octochoke. They saw Roll for the Soul out in style in December, now they are due to see out the weekend with their searing punk.
Add the rock & roll of One Last Score and the noise-rock of Civil War Ghost and The Mothers Ruin will be positively quivering and vibrating with rock. It’s what Sundays are for.
