FEMALE ACTOR WANTED!

A Life Sentence is a one act play and love story depicting the emotional challenges to a family touched by Dementia. It is a moving two-hander featuring a husband and wife, both in their mid to late Fifties. A Life Sentence shows that the disease not only affects the individual living with dementia but also of the battles and eventual consequences for the immediate and wider family.

Audition location: Swindon Arts Centre, Devizes Road, Old Town, Swindon SN1 4BJ (There is a Pay and Display car park nearby - Britannia Place, SN1 4BS)

Audition date: WEDNESDAY 19 FEBRUARY 2020 6PM - 9PM

In attendance:
Mark Seaman – Writer, Director and playing “Dave”, the Husband
Laura James – Theatre Director, Swindon Theatres
Nyree Kingsbury – Community & Education Officer, Swindon Theatres
Swindon Art Centre Technician(s)

At the auditions Mark will talk a little about the play to give you the background to the piece and you will be asked to perform a monologue for Anne and the joint dialogue with the actor playing the role of Dave, the husband (Mark Seaman).

Performance date: Thursday 7 May 2020 – 2 performances 2.30pm and 7.30pm, at the Arts Centre, Swindon.  (Rehearsal schedule to follow)
Length: Approximately 40 – 45 minutes per performance
Please note there will be a talk out session/Q&A following each session with dementia care professionals, specialists etc.

Deadline for applications:  Tuesday 18 February 2020

Payment details: One off fee in line with National Living Wage + agreed expenses

Character: Anne Davies (wife to Dave who is living with dementia)
Gender: Female
Playing age: Early fifties
Other characteristics: The rhythm of the dialogue is written to be performed in a Northern, Yorkshire style, accent. If you are interested we will send the audition piece to you to familiarise yourself with. You will not be expected to work without the script at the audition. We will aim to see people as quickly as possible after arrival for the audition but please be prepared to wait, depending on numbers attending.
